In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army
In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place, and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
I ended up crying as I recited that poem because that summer my sister was becoming a army reservist and as I recited the poem I thought about all of the possible things my sister could end up going through because she was part of the Army. After I was done reciting I was told by several people that I did that poem the best that they could remember anyone doing it because noone else had put any emotion into it and there I was crying in front of everyone that attended the ceremony.
Grr! I need to get a good night of sleep soon cause I haven't really gotten any good sleep lately and I feel exhausted. I went to bed around 11:30 last night and COULD NOT fall asleep for the life of me. I tossed and turned and finally around I dunno 1 or so I fell asleep but I woke up again around 3 GRRR! I think I just need some good cuddling or massage or something. *YAWN* I'm soo tired...Hopefully I am out cold tonight. Anyhow good night world.
